A few weeks ago JSutt, Keyse and I headed to Swampscott. What is in Swampscott you ask? Well one of JSutt's clients, Amy DePerrior of LuxeBeautiQue, is a HUGE fan of YGIU and expressed interest in advertising on my website. Being the product hound that I am, I naturally had to go check it out.
I prepared for a road trip. Swampscott is in the North Shore and being a South Shore girl I don't get across the Zachim Bridge much. Hell I just crossed it for the first time three years ago when I had to get to New Hampshire to do the Breast Cancer 3-Day. On the morning of our adventure I woke to some heinous weather. It was windy and rainy and looked like a legit hurricane outside of my window. I contemplated canceling due to the dubious conditions, but after consulting with my dad on the phone, he informed me that it was safe to drive. So I put on my best road trip outfit: UGGs and sweatpants (I wanted to be comfy behind the wheel) and I thought about taking a page out of my friend Leva's book and getting Diet Sprite and beef jerky for the ride but I decided on coffee and 100-calorie packs.
I arrived in the South End to pick up JSutt.
"Ready for our road trip?!?"
JSutt regarded me quizzically, "Um. Sure..."
Hmmm...Whatevs. Maybe she gets car sick.
After collecting Keyse we were off. I popped in the mix CD I'd made for the ride and we chatted idly.
We made out way over the Tobin as the sun came out. What a great day. I love being in the car when it's this nice out.
A few minutes later I heard Jess talking over the hum of the music. I turned down the volume, "What?"
"Lees, we're here."
"We are?!"
"Yeah."
"But we've only been driving for like 15 minutes."
"Yeah Swampscott isn't that far away."
"Oh."
We parked and headed in. The location of LuxeBeautiQue is awesome. It's like a little gem by the sea and Swampscott is beautiful.
Owner Amy DePerrior, spunky with a side of sass, and her team of beauticians took good care of us. And I have to say, I got the ultra sonic facial and my face was like a baby's behind for like five days. Oh and the lovely Lisa did my makeup and was very charming and patient while I explained to her that purple just "really wasn't my thing". And I have to give a shout out to the masseuse Natalie. Keyse got a massage by her and said that it was the best one she'd ever experienced. And Keyse gets massaged a LOT.
One thing to note: Keisha Witaker (yes, Forrest's wife) just launched her Kissable Couture makeup line at LBQ. The colors are really beautiful and there is even a lip gloss named after the Oscar winner himself! The chic boutique also carries BECCA, Bare Escentuals (a personal fav of mine), Rodial, Murad, Billy Jealousy and a ton more.
LBQ is definitely worth the 15 minute ride if you want all of the luxury of a Newbury Street spa without the hassle of finding parking or the stigma of Newbury Street. When you call to schedule your appointment mention yourgirlfriendisugly.com and get a free makeover and 10% off your purchase!
Also Amy and I are thinking of having a little party, a joint effort if you will, so keep your eyes and calendars open for that.
