Like being in a Meg Ryan movie.

I was in New York yesterday for work and I gotta tell you. Schlepping around that city can be a bitch. There's nothing quite like being on the M31 with my suitcase and two bags at 8am. Brutal.

Anyway, I left the office around 3pm to catch my 4pm Acela Express out of Penn Station. Naturally the train was 45  mins late taking off. I sat in the Acela waiting area and started to people watch and day dream. A father and son strolled over and sat a couple of seats away from me. The dad tapped away on his Blackberry while the son, who was maybe 10 chattered on and on about how excited he was for the game tonight and how they had the best seats in Fenway.

Little shit. It's always the little kids who luck out and get tickets to these big games.

I leaned over and said to him, "You going to the game tonight?"

"YEAH! I'm so excited. I can't wait."

"Are you a Red Sox fan?"

"YEAH! I love the Red Sox!"

"Me too!"

At this point the father looked over at me to see who was striking up a conversation with his pre-pubescent son.

"You a fan too?" he asked with his hands clutched firmly around his berry.

"Yes. I'm from Boston."

At the mention of Boston the son started to get animated and squirmed excitedly in his chair.

"Oh wowwowwow! I can't wait. Our seats are so great too!"

"Where are you sitting?" I asked the son. The father was staring at me, probably wondering why I was chatting up his kid, but I noticed a ring on dads finger and I was just innocently trying to make a young kids day by talking about the game since his father was too interested in his Blackberry.

"We have box seats right behind the Sox dug out."

I let out a low whistle, "Niiiiiiiiiiice! Who's your favorite player?"

"Weeeell it was Manny but now it's probably Pedroia, or Ellsbury, or Youk."

"All good choices. I like Varitek."

"SUPERMAN!" He shouted probably in reference to the song that plays when Tek and his thighs get up to bat.

The boy bounded off like a cocker spaniel to go check the status of our train, dad went back to his berry and I went back to my In Touch magazine. Jen had lipo. So?

A few minutes later I looked up and the kid was standing in front of me staring at me.

"Hii...?"

He just smiled and walked back to his seat.

"Dad....Dad?!..."

"Mmmmm?"

"Dad, you should ask her to sit with us on the train."

"Well maybe she has her own seat."

"Yeah but dad, she's pretty AND she likes the Red Sox. She could be my new mom!"

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

"You already have a mom."

"Enjoy the game boys!" I grabbed my stuff and headed out of the waiting area before the kid suggested we meet at the Empire State Building on Valentine's Day.

Also, while I was in New York I walked down to the front desk to pick up my sushi and there was Rachel Zoe. She was waiting to get her visitors badge assigned to her and after I signed the bill for my order waited next to her at the elevator. She was too preoccupied with her iPhone to realize the elevator doors had opened so I had to say to her, "Do you want to get on this elevator?" To which she responded, "Oh yes."

She was wearing her huge bug sunglasses (it was raining, and we were inside), a white coat and had her scraggly hair down which covered like her entire upper body. As my mother would say, "Do something with that hair!"

She's totally as tiny as she looks on TV and could use a cake.

Your Girlfriend Is Ugly.com's SECOND celebrity sighting!!! (well...sorta...)

*Phew!!* Let me tell you! I could get used to this. Hob-knobbing with known celebrities and all. Well, let me back up a bit. I wasn't really "hob-knobbing" per se, more like spy-knobbing...??

Let me go back to the beginning.

As many of my loyal readers know, back on June 15th, Shana, LK and I did a few drive-by's in Southie when Ben Affleck's movie, Gone Baby Gone was filming at Murphy's Law. Click here to read the first celebrity sighting. It was such a rush. We were tooling around L Street and East First in the Rollerskate. But you can read about it. :):)

Anyway. So J. Sutt calls me up one day last week and tells me that her friend Mike, who is a location scout for Boston, invited her on the set. Mike told Jess that she was welcome to come and bring whatever friends she could muster up. Obviously she mustered up me, Jackie and Shannie. Like we'd miss this!

We had a set plan: to meet by the elevators at 12:45pm. Walk to my car. Drive to Murphy's Law and meet Mike where he had secured a parking spot for us. I told Jess to tell him to look for a Jetta with a missing medallion.

We were driving down the street when a very tall guy comes out to the street and Jess goes, "That's him." He looked at the car and then glanced at the missing VW medallion. Immediately a look of recognition came onto his face. I tell you. It sucks having a boot leg car but I'm hard to miss!

So Mike took us around:

We then meandered to the set where they were filming. We caught a glimpse of the female lead! Michelle Monaghan. A nice Irish girl. Check out the picture below that Shana totally snapped!

Now it has to be said that I am currently embarrassed. For whatever reason, I had it on good authority that this girls name was Michelle Williams and that she was the sister of Kimberly Williams...the lead in Father of the Bride. I'm not sure if Mike the Location Scout is going to read this but if you do, please note my chagrin. I'm sure that you know more about the movies you're working on than a girl who sources tubes. My bust.

Moving on!

So at this time we're like ON the set. Everyone is set up at this auto body shop on L Street called Rachael's Autobody shop (or motor parts...shit I forget. I'm a bad blogger. *BAD!*)

We tooled around. Mike let us watch the video screens while they shot.

Oh. Just your every day run of the mill film shoot. On those screens there is a scene they are filming with a character named "Bubba". (I think that's Casey Affleck on the screen but we couldn't tell.) And I actually saw Bubba in real life. He was chilling in the parking lot and I didn't realize that it was actually him. I busted out with, "Oh. Is that Bubba???" The person I thought was Bubba then looked up from his SideKick 3, or whatever he was using, and just stared at me. Come to find out, you guessed it, it was Bubba.

Just another shot of the filming taking place on the screen. The gentleman to the left is Alan Ladd, Jr. (At least I'm pretty sure it is. A guy came over and goes "Hello Mr.Ladd" and the guy on the left looked up. Also there is a chair in that area that was labeled "Alan Ladd, JR." So he's there somewhere!) He's the producer. He also worked on Braveheart and The Man in the Iron Mask. Apparently he's a Hollywood Mucky-Muck. He kind of just sat there chain smoking, reading the NY Times and shellacking his ear to a headset whenever the 7th in line Director (Mike told us the name but I forget what her title is) yelled, "Quiet! Sound UP!!"

So then Mike took us down an around the set to another bar where they will be filming.

Apparently, the name of the bar in the movie will be the Bootleg Bar. But the actual name is the something "Tavern". I think he said "Samantha Tavern". I'll get the real name and get back to you. Cute inside though! I love finding out all of these little places in Southie to go!

So that was our day on the set. It was hot and sweaty but super fun. I think I kind of have to get into film. The place was crawling with super hot dudes. Like, it would be a good place to just go and observe all of the hotties at work.

We decided to reward ourselves with a little frosty Slurpee action at my local 7-Eleven.

YUM! A frothy treat to cool us off!!

This gentleman here was just a random guy we bumped into while getting our Slurpee's. I told him that we were doing this for my website. He asked what it was called and I said, "Yourgirlfriendisugly.com." and he replied, "HA! That's funny! You all are definitely not ugly though!!!"

Well I never thought I'd get a first celebrity sighting. Two was just dumb luck! Shall I dare wish for a third?! Stay tuuuuuned!! :):):)

Your Girlfriend is Ugly.com's FIRST CELEBRITY POST!!!

Well....I didn't think it would happen THIS quickly, BUT!!!  YGIU.com has it's first celebrity sighting. And in it's first week!

OY!!!

As many of you may, or may not know, Boston local boy Ben Affleck is filming his new movie here. "Gone Baby Gone" is based on the novel by Dennis Lehane (the same dude who scribed "Mystic River)". I kind of don't feel like going into the movie and it's basis so you can just click here to get more info about "Gone Baby Gone" at IMDB.

Anyhew....now that that's out of the way.

I TOTALLY SAW THEM FILMING!!

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII KNOW! (for all of my people in LA <with the exception of Brian> reading this right now, I know daily sightings of like Sir Ben Kingsley and Charlize Theron are daily occurrences, but we don't get much of that here in Southie...so...STFU)

Ok so. I'm coming out of work and I take a left onto L Street. I'm tooling along in my car (aka: The Rollerskate), music blasting when I come up to the corner of L and East 1st, where Murphy's Law rests. Now I've been aware of the filming since Monday when it all started, but for some reason I just thought to myself "Oh...there's no way I'll see anyone."

WRONG! SO WRONG!

I look to my right and there is Ben Affleck gesticulating wildly in all of his directorial glory to some camera man dude. "OMG!" I say out loud. Well...there's a green light so I have to drive. So I get on the phone and call my sister. (I just have to tell you all that I live about 3 minutes from Murphy's Law in Southie. So the fact that Ben Affleck is within a stones throw of my apartment is like...HUGE!)

After my sister picks her jaw up off the floor I tell her that I am going to swing by the house and pick both her and our friend LK up and we're going to do it up paparazzi style!

Our first attempt wasn't so successful. We got strong armed by some clowny assistant dude who I think we woke up from a nap. He accused us of circling the block and told us we had to turn around. After telling him "Yeah, thanks. This is my neighborhood!" we parked the car and made our way down East 1st. Our "star" gazing lasted for all of 30 seconds before some OTHER assistant ran across four lanes of rush hour L Street traffic, to tell us that we were in the shot and to please turn around, walk down the street and get out of the way.

Honestly...if it's that important...why not close the street off? I mean...

Well, EFF this! We didn't come all this way (3 minutes) to get kicked out of our own turf. Shana, myself and LK devised a Plan B!

After some careful maneuvering down Emerson St, we passed the Southie Post Office, we took a RIGHT onto East 1st and came up Murphy's the other way, but in my car. Luckily we got a red light and were able to get some sweet **shots. Like this one of Casey Affleck (the younger brother of Ben)below!

Erm...we were also able to get some "landscape" shots (if you can call them that) of the outside of the bar! YAR!

So after that initial round we were so pumped that we decided that we absolutely HAD to go around again. So I kicked the Rollerskate into 4th gear and sped around the block. We crawled up to the bar again. ANOTHER RED LIGHT! Lady Luck was clearly with us!!! Then, as we were wildly looking around, our eyes spinning out of control, LK shouts "THERE'S BEN AFFLECK!!!!"

AND THERE HE WAS!!! BEN AFFLECK!!!

= the guy in the t shirt and jeans looking our way. You can't see it but he had a definite look of "WTF???!" on his face.

Such Greatness! We wanted to go around a third time. Maybe see if Morgan Freeman was anywhere in the area, but on our second go 'round I noticed a cop scoping my license plate and for those of you who are familiar with The Rollerskate know that the front grill is, how do I say it, "unique" looking....

So we took our photo loot and basked in our Paparazzi glory!

I know it's not the red carpet at the Kodak Theater, but it's Boston and it's my home!!!
